Dealing with Grief and Disability

Lois Tonkin has written some wonderful resources in relation to dealing with grief. I have adapted these resources with a specific focus on disability. Having a disability, injury or illness can cause a feeling of loss and grief not only for the person themselves, but also for the people who support them.

Learning to Live with My Disability

During this workshop I discuss my own experiences of dealing with the loss and grief of having a disability. I have had to find ways to ‘learn to live with my disability’.

I also discuss:

  • What we know about grief.
  • The fact that everyone responds differently to grief.
  • How to deal with others who may not understand your grief.
  • How to support people dealing with grief.
  • A framework for learning to live with a disability, injury or illness.
