Speaking Up Workshops, Office of the Health and Disability Commissioner, 2005 - .
In 2005 the Office of the Health and Disability Commissioner asked me to assist them to develop the Speaking Up Workshops for disabled people and their families. My role has been to expand some ideas into training packages and workshop resources that will meet the differing needs of the disability community – plain language, text and large print versions. I have now co-presented this workshop in New Zealand and Australia. I am currently working with the National Advocacy Service on a strategy for presenting these workshops in other parts of New Zealand.
State Services Commission, Mainstream Employment Programme, 2000 - :
Over the past 7.5 years I have been contracted by the State Services Commission to develop, facilitate, revise and update monthly induction workshops for the Commission’s Mainstream Supported Employment Programme and their second year workshops. This has involved assisting staff from a range of State Sector organisations to support disabled staff. I have also facilitated seminars for Placement Agencies and potential employers.
