Planning for Your Future

Often people who are successful have hopes and dreams of where they want to be in the future. Your ultimate goal may be to be an administrator, social worker, policy analyst, to manage a team, work part-time or full-time, go to university or polytechnic or to own your own business.

Having a goal of where we want to be in 5, 10 or 15 years time helps us to plan, stay focussed and motivated. This workshop focuses on solutions to help disabled people and those with an injury or illness to create and implement their goals in areas such as education and employment.

Topic areas include:

1. Why it is important for disabled people and those with an injury or illness to have goals.

2. Areas that we need to consider when planning our goals.

3. A framework for creating and implementing goals in areas such as education and employment.

4. Case studies which illustrate how different people create and implement goals.

5. Resources to assist you when creating and implementing these goals.

During the workshop participants are given the opportunity to create their own Action Plan. To help with this I talk about my own story and then use scenarios involving people with a range of conditions to discuss and illustrate what to consider and include when developing this Action Plan.

This workshop is particularly useful for those people planning towards study or employment or who want to reduce the impact of their disability, injury or illness so they can realise their potential.
