Involving Disabled & Deaf Parents in their Children’s Education at School

In 2006 Child, Youth and Family commissioned a project to assess the support of disabled and Deaf parents in their parenting role. As well as consulting with some of these parents, a review of international literature was completed. This indicated that many issues identified here in New Zealand reflected overseas trends.

Some Disabled and Deaf Parents Face Barriers in Schools

This workshop looks at the potential barriers that these parents face and practical steps that schools can take to get them more actively involved in their child’s education and in the school community.
