Training Solutions

A large part of my work is developing and presenting training packages for staff working in the state, private and the voluntary sector and for the disability community.

During my training programmes

1. I draw upon my experiences as a disabled person, who has also managed services assisting disabled people, those with an injury or illness and their support networks.
2. I use a very interactive training style – discussions groups, brainstorming ideas, fun exercises, helpful examples and scenarios that ask participants to consider issues.
3. I offer and provide practical solutions, tools and useful resources for resolving barriers to participation and achievement of disabled people.
4. I use small groups to discuss various scenarios focusing on working with a range of disabled people.
   
   This is a great way to get participants to utilise the material being presented, discuss their own experiences and to provide an overview of the range of different support needs that disabled people have.

My preparation includes the development of practical training resources that participants can take away.

With the majority of my work I am contracted by a specific organisation to develop and present a training package, rather than tendering for this work.
